A half day CPD workshop to reflect on knowledge and skills in working with those who experience suicidal ideation or intent, how we might be impacted by this and experiential skills practice in using a safety plan from a trauma informed and person centred perspective. This training is aimed at counsellors and psychotherapists but could also be beneficial to wellbeing practitioners of other disciplines who do relational work.
•Suicide awareness: Prevalence, risk factors, language, addressing stigma and myths
•How experiences of working with suicide ideation or intent can feel/impact us
•Safety planning, an evidence based tool that can be used with both self harm and suicide and skills practice in using it
This workshop was piloted and subsequently run at a third sector counselling organisation in Edinburgh, with positive feedback from both trainee and experienced practitioners.
